Job Posting: Experience Enhancement Specialist

Downtown Mission of Windsor has an opening for a permanent Part-Time to Full-Time position as an Experience Enhancement Specialist. This candidate will work under the supervision of the Support Service Manager and Executive Director.

Responsibilities

• Patrol assigned area on foot, ensure personal, building and equipment security. Watch for and report irregularities by completing investigations and incident reports, such as security breaches, facility and safety hazards, emergency situations; contact emergency responders such as police, fire and/or ambulance personnel as required. Utilize two-way radio and computer applications for communicating site activities. Sustain effective relationships with key stakeholders and provide specialized security service by following Downtown Mission’s rules and regulations when required. Offer support to any person in need such as providing good customer service and non-violent crisis intervention when providing a security presence, responding to emergency situations involving verbal and physical altercations. Perform miscellaneous job related duties as assigned.

Qualifications, knowledge, skills

• Successfully conduct security patrols without direct supervision. • Remain calm and effectively perform in emergency situations. • Write comprehensive reports and maintain proper records using effective communication skills. • Be able to detect problems and report information to appropriate personnel. • Basic knowledge of security procedures, handling violent behaviours and non-defensive communication. • Able to follow and enforce safety codes, Mission regulations and procedures. • Strong interpersonal skills, flexibility and customer service orientation. • Maintain a high level of discretion pertaining to confidential information relating to guest services • Adhere to our Code of Ethics in performing job requirements. • Present a professional image to the public. • Able to understand and follow specific instructions and procedures. • Adapt to a variety of environmental factors while performing exterior patrols. • Moderate physical activity including standing and/or walking for extended periods of time.

Job Requirements

• Excellent verbal and written English communication skills. • Demonstrate superior customer service skills and able to work independently. • Flexibility to work a variety of shifts (afternoons/nights/weekends). • Minimum of Police Foundation/Law and Security Diploma • Must be 18 years old and meet all other minimum requirements and MUST be eligible for a Security Guard License in Ontario • Must have a G License with 3 years’ experience • CPI, Use of Force and First Aid/CPR Level C with AOD training would be considered a definite asset • Previous customer service related experience would be an asset • Previous related security experience would be considered a definite asset
