Our Mission Statement

The purpose of the United Church Downtown Mission is to be a place of sanctuary.

In response to the Mandate of the Gospel, we seek to provide food for the body, nurture for the spirit, shelter for the homeless and an opportunity for human growth and development.

Goals
The Downtown Mission will provide a caring community to break and share bread together. We will assist or advocate for all who enter with need for food, shelter, employment, clothing or other concerns. The Mission will actively seek to be part of long-term solutions to these basic human needs.

Nurturing
The Downtown Mission will provide a compassionate, caring staff. In a spirit of community, all who enter will have an opportunity to participate and support each other to grow spiritually and emotionally.

Growth and Development
All members of The Mission will be encouraged to develop to their full potential by participation in recreation programs, committees, education and work activities. The Mission will inform the wider community of the aspirations and needs of those it serves.
