Our Volunteers,
Make A Difference

Our Volunteers use their hands, hearts, creativity and talents to make a difference in the lives of people struggling with poverty and homelessness across Essex County.

Want to help?

The work of The Downtown Mission depends on the generous contributions of people just like you

Volunteering is a good way to give back to your community

How does it work?

There are so many ways to contribute and we’d love to help you find your place at the Mission. If you’re interested in volunteering, please fill out the online application through the links above.  All volunteers must be 18 years of age or otherwise accompanied by an adult.  For more information, please email volunteer@downtownmission.com.

Individuals

You don’t have to be with a group to make a big impact. We have opportunities for individuals with all levels of experience and skill. Come lend a hand and see just what a difference one person can make.

Churches

If your church group is looking for a way to get involved, we’d love to help identify an opportunity to help or lend your strength to another through one of our many programs. We also value the opportunity to come visit you. We have a great story to tell. If you need a guest speaker, call us.

Groups

Interested in volunteering with your friends, school group, or service club? We can help organize an opportunity for your group to get involved.

Businesses

Are you part of a community-minded organization? Volunteering at the Downtown Mission is another great way for your business to give back to the community. There are so many ways for you to participate, build employee morale and good will in the community.

Our Volunteers are the back bone of our organization. Without the donation of their time, dedication and support, we would not be able to provide the services so desperately needed by those in our community

Want to support the Misson
but don't have the time?

There is more than one way to make a difference!

Consider making a donation to help provide shelter and a hot meal to those in need.
